Baldur Gate 3 All Classes with Comparison Table

In Baldur’s Gate 3, character archetypes or “classes” provide distinct play styles for every character in the game. Upon acquiring adequate XP, players can further refine their class selection with a choice of multiple subclasses. Your character’s abilities or “features” – unique actions they can execute – are determined by the class you select. The classes range from Fighters and Wizards to Rangers, among others.

Note for BG3 Early Access: Initially, not every class will be accessible during early access. However, the full game release will encompass all classes. Be aware that multiclassing won’t be an option upon the release of the early access version.

CLASS SELECTION

Making the right class choice to match your preferred play style is a crucial element of Character Creation. It’s worth noting that certain races may have a stronger affinity towards particular classes and subclasses. Moreover, your choices may be influenced by a desire to explore unique magic schools, whether for role-playing or personal inclination. To optimally configure your character and party, we recommend perusing our Builds section.

WHAT CONSTITUTES SUBCLASSES?

Subclasses represent a further specialization within a class. Players have the option to follow different specialization paths while still retaining the features of their original class, coupled with unique abilities granted by their subclass. For instance, a Rogue at level 3 will need to make a decision to specialize as a Thief or Arcane Trickster. From that juncture, the character will reap the benefits of being a Rogue, enhanced by the special advantages of their chosen subclass.
